Liberty’s dining room

A long, long time, ago, I moved from Bordeaux to England. It wasn’t in trendy London that I put my suitcases down but in the North of the country. Staffordshire. Stoke-On-Trent had been the most famous place at some point for its splendid ceramics, not a chic table without the stamp of the region under its plates. The horizon was shadowed by the narrow brick chimneys. Sadly, mass production and Asian competition stepped in and killed this expensive but delicate hand-painted skill. Remain a few big names: Wedgwood, Spode, Portmeirion, Burleigh… and a more recent one, Emma Bridgewater. When visiting friends around, I can never resist stopping in the factory shops, adding a few gems to my collection.

Liberty recently opened a Dining Room dedicated to beautiful china. Emma Bridgewater stopped by last Wednesday to present her new range, exclusive to the shop – a dramatic effect created by splattered deep blue paint. The designer took the time to chat a few moments with each guest as well as signed their purchases :

Shelves and tables are loaded with British brands – let youself be seduced by Burleigh‘s poetic illustrations…

Lisa Stickley‘s springg cheerful colours…

Sophie Conran‘s Asian inspired lines for Portmeirion…

Wedgwood’s teapots and their very smooth style…

Loveramics‘ toile de Jouy with a twist…

Add vretro style accessories, colourful textiles, mix, create your own world. sprinkle with elegance: British elegance is so chic!

Although I would strongly recommend sending boyfriends/husbands to the nearest pub…
