London: Tea Time in Wonderland

Eat me, the best foodie magazine at the moment, had quite a movie-party last night.

Think it’s a pretty classical them? Might be. But trust them to add a twist to this.

Cinema? Sure. But an independant one. Whirled hides right under a railway arch and can welcome 60 guests, has leather seats, a bar, a mini-deck. Cool, eh?

Mature Irish CheddarSmooth Caramel, Pepper & ChilliCaramel Macchiato & Whiskey Popcorn? Yes, but gourmet one! Joe & Seph’s have revolutionalised the concept and propose a wide range that will defy your dreams. Theirs are delicate and are between treat and candy. Special awards go to the Mature Irish Cheddar, soooo creamy… the Smooth Caramel, Pepper & Chilli, rich, a lot of character… the Caramel Macchiato & Whiskey (hips)… Seriously: those should be compulsary in any good cinema. You can never go back to the standard version. Even Selfridges fell for them and sells those in their food court.

Of course there are refreshments but forget the maxi-Coca-Colas. We sipped on Chase – voted the world best vodka in 2010. It wraps your tastebuds ever so smoothly. The distillery from Herefordshire favours artisan methods to keep their products most elegant in taste. We tried their gorgeous liqueurs too ( blackcurrant, elederflower, raspberry, rhubarb) and a little gem, a limited edition (guys, you can’t do that to us. This one just has to be sold all year round): the marmelade vodka. Had Paddington encountered that one, he would have been drunk all day long. Like the orange jam, the notes are both bitter and sweet, making it the perfect drink for… oh, wait, almost any time in the day.

Guests were also treated to a goodie goodie bag: exotic and so refreshing Vita Coco (gone in a few gulps, too late for the picture). Lucky’s chocolate bouchée with salt notes, presented as a real jewel. Bear‘s fruit yoyos – any covers one of your 5 a day, yeaaah! Peppersmith mints so refreshing you feel like blowing in your neighbour’s face. And for the poetic note, Allotinabox thought of some seeds for our garden (look at their gift box!).

Add a classic movie – French with english subtitles, The dinner game, quite a few laughs (not all due to the vodka), sparkling conversations, rosy cheeks. and shopping lists growing longer and longer…

Eat me certainly knows how to throw a party, infused with the most trendy products. Quick, buy the magazine, subscribe, follow them to know what’s in before it gets mainstream!
