London: Tea Time in Wonderland

Mary Poppins used to sing Just a spoonful of sugar… Petra, the Choc Star Van owner certainly replaced sugar with chocolate.

She’s a wonderful, wonderful girl. One day, she decided to switch carreers, bought a Scottish ice-cream van and tadaaa! jumps into adventure land.

She knows and loves chocolate, of course, real chocolate, the one with a great percentage of cocoa. Her rose water truffles are to die for. Her walnut chocolate brownies? I’ll be damned if you only eat one slice. Her hot chocolate? Velvet? try it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream… But beware: my daughter stole my brownie whithin seconds after telling me she wasn’t hungry!

Each time I try a different specialty. She also does matesers muffins, chocolate and guinesss ones, milkshakes with a Vaironha dipped cherry…

No shop, but a traveling van – how cool! You’ll find the next meeting point on her website. She’s always at the Slow Food Markets on Southbank.

Don’t hesitate to chat with her – she’s always so bright and happy and always remembers me (the French girl with the chocolate bag!) although she sees hundreds of customers between each meeting. She litterally amazes me. If you come at a quiet time, she’ll always take the time to speak a few minutes with you. You’ll end up smiling just by saying Choc Star Van…
