Easy as ABC with Eine

Street art lovers and Shoreditch locals certainly knew Eine long before Cameron gave of of his pieces to Obama (his wife’s idea, it seems).

The guy’s been in the graffiti business for 25 years. The shop shutters seemed like a great support. He just wanted to do the E originally. Came back for the I, N and E. Decided to go for the whole alphabet. He would have settles for abandonned shops but there just wasn’t enough of them around. Deep breath -  he stepped in and asked. The owners’ enthusiasm was amazing. The guide 1000 things to do in London even advised to track all of them down! That would be tough these days – most of them have been tagged over.

This summer, Eine and Electric Blue gallery worked together and convinced the shop owners of the street to let them turn Middlesex into Alphabet street…

It will not be easy to get them all -  they are only visible when the shutters are down. Do go to the end of the street for a bonus!

Eine recently finished another piece upper in the street -  glorious in this greyish autumn:

The idea was to promote the coming show, Faces -  a few pieces form Eine but also D*Face, Zevs, Goodall, Cezar.

If you could not get the whole alphabet, stop in from of the shop window and watch that video -  each letter is shown being painted then going backwards.

You’ll find Eine’s work in the basement -  a bit more political, with a Rubik Cube touch…

You may also stumble upon other pieces in Shoreditch such as this wall. The Londonist has a map for you.

The alphabet and letters flying away on a yellow wall both are on Middlesex st.

Electric Blue Gallery
64 Middlesex Street
London E1 7EZ
Faces runs until Nov 16, 2010 -  free

The ANTI wall is on Ebor st, a step away from the Albion.

The artist will also be joining the Moniker event, Oct 14-17 2010 (thanks for the tip Céline!)
