Burleigh
I first lived in Staffordshire. Probably, the name does not mean much to you. Some of you will not have heard of it at all.
This region is nicknamed The Potteries and used the produce the finest British china, the horizon lined with the companies’ terracota chimneys. Out of a hundred, only a handful survived the Chinese competition: Wedgwood, Spode, Royal Doulton, Portmeirion… and Burleigh.
When visiting friends around, I never can resist stopping by the factory shop. Each collection is thought so that it can match the others and you will often see visitors going around with a plate in hand, testing the bests matches. Milk jugs are particularly adorable. Gentlemen usually prefer to sit by the entrance or close to the fire with a cup of tea and biscuit offered by the house.
In London, Liberty and Selfridges offer a lovely range.
