Stowells Light wines – a celebration favourite

Wine and light in the same sentence – really?
Oh yes. Let me talk you through it.

Being a froggie, wine is of course a natural part of celebrations for me, whether a feast or just meeting a good friend to catch up. It just dances on the tongue, warms you up from the inside, sings a complexity of notes. There is one for every occasion. But with the Christmas celebrations building up came a dilemma – the calorie-over-indulgence with many parties a week, the alcohol percentage if I was driving… which tends to ruin the mood.

But Stowells wine cleverly created the perfect drink. It counts only 60 calories per glass, 30 per cent less than a standard glass of wine. Even better, it is at 5.5%, less than a unit of alcohol per 125ml serving. You can sit back and relax.

Yet, taste has not been sacrificed in the process. It does not feel light – you sincerely would not know had you done a blindfolded test with a selection of other favourites. My first sip of the Stowells Light White was crisp and fragrant, a gorgeous mix of Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. The fruity notes of apricot, melon and pear make it a very refreshing choice and I long to try it with oysters, fish dishes and even an exotic fruit desert. Very elegant yet easy to drink: no need to be a connoisseur to appreciate it -  the decision is clear, an immediate “Mmmmh, now this is really tasty”.

The range also includes a rosé – the perfect lunch and picnic wine in my view. The vibrant notes of strawberry, cherry, raspberry will brighten up any healthy meal, even a simple salad. An easy and guilt-free way to enhance the day! Its zesty acidity will match spicy food quite well too, bringing a lovely balance. A wine to finish 2011 and to start 2012 with…

Where to get Stowells Light wines? At ASDA stores, nationwide, for a mere £5.49 a bottle.

As for all alcohols, remember that quality is always better than quantity so enjoy reasonably and responsibly!

I like so much white wine and red wine, but for me it’s Bordeaux’s wine :)
Have a nice day and merry christmas, kiss

    Bisous

Clara: I am from Bordeaux too yet, sometimes a little lighter something is so nice..

Marielle: non, non, l’hotel du moulin est bien une ancienne boulangerie… Il me reste encore un hotel Lacroix à tester une de ces jours! Bises et très belle année à toi.
