USA roadtrip – Holbrook

They will tell you that Holbrook has little, even no interest at all, just a passing town on the famous Route 66, between Meteor Crater and Petrified Forest. Forgotten as soon as it gets out of sight. Still, my heart fell for its faded charm, the old neon signs, the retro signs on the walls, the plaster dinosaurs signalling rock shops. True, it doesn’t take long to see it all. But you could stop for a Grand Canyon beer at Joe and Aggie’s Cafe where John Lasseter, Pixar producer, was inspired to create Cars (have a look at the signed drawings on the walls). In the same street, you will find The Wigwam Motel, with its nostalgic-kitsch concrete tepees and collection of vintage cars from the 50s and 60s. You could swear they are about to talk…

The rest of this USA roadtrip this way!
