Cool down with a sorbtail at The Arch

Sorbtails. Sorbet + cocktail. Sorbtails. Sorbet + cocktail. The best way to chill down this summer! These frosty gems, as beautiful as diamond jewels can be found at the sumptuous boutique hotel The Arch London, just a couple minutes walk from Oxford Street.

Imagine the peppery sweetness of tomatoes, the spiciness of Worcester Sauce, the tonic touch of celery all perfectly combined in a velvety, iced ribbon. It takes a couple of minutes for your mind to understand that a liquid Bloody Mary is so yesterday, that you can now let it melt on your tongue… Let alone sorbets playing with savoury always wow me. My favourite? Definitely the Pimm’s inspired one. The gelato encapsulates the quintessence of this British apéritif, highlighting it simply with cucumber juice. Add a hint of mint, crown with thin slices of strawberries and cucumber. You will not let go of your spoon, nor your martini glass-turned-ice cream grail, for one second. Right now, you are thinking granite but the texture here is much more refined. A granite is more a flavoured crushed ice. This is blended together then chilled to perfection.

Also on the menu, a delightful gin and tonic and poetic vodka and elderflower. Your new Happy Hour addiction. Less sweet than a cocktail and much more refreshing. Immediately, you feel like asking whether your favourite cocktail could be made this way too. The menu does feature a succulent Coco Boudoir – rum, lychee, lime, coconut milk –  that I’m now dreaming not of sipping but simply devouring.

Sorbtails – £7 chaque ou £19.5 pour déguster les 4£7 each or £19.50 for the sharing flight of 4

I have never tried those but they look delicious. Do they only serve them at the Arch ?

I am afraid so… But who knows, the trend might grow!
