The last 10 days have brought waves of heartbreaking emails to my inbox. Restaurants, cafés, pubs, bars forced to close their doors to the public have had to reinvent themselves to keep afloat, survive until better times… An admirable effort, achieved in a few days. In London, most have turned to take-aways, home deliveries and drive-throughs, others provide festive packages (our favourite is the Pub in a box by Signature Brew: a selection of their award-winning beers, glassware, snacks, a music quiz and exclusive playlists curated by music journalists…).
Difficult to keep track! Some websites have been updated but most often, news/opening hours/menus are on Instagram and other social media channels. Which ones are still cooking a feast near you? Are they on Deliveroo, Just Eat, Uber Eats, do they have their own team? I have listed all the ones I have come across on the map below, adding details in the notes when I could (offers for the NHS staff. Some offer reductions, free meals… Crosstown gives you the option to donate boxes of doughnuts to the NHS). Let me know which ones are missing and I will add them.
And remember. While enjoying a fantastic takeaway while streaming plays, movies, musicals are fab… you can also support your local favourites by buying their merchandise (from ground coffee to funky tote bags) or a gift voucher to keep them going for the time being. Even leaving a review will make a difference…
Things moving particularly fast these days, do check websites/Instagram accounts 🙂
